O in 4 Project: Putting Violence against women in a museum

Purpose of this project is to actualize some of the
strategic visions developed from the 1 in 4 Project.

1) Revise the Sexual Assault Protocol
Planning is now underway for the revisions to the Sexual
Assualt Protocol. Anne-Marie will be spearheading this
part of the project with the collaboration of members of
the DVAC and others. We will start meeting in September
with regular meetings to follow so that we meet the
timelines of the grant.

2) Workshop on the intersection of Family & Criminal Court
The Royal Brock has been booked for December 19th, 2007.
On a seperate but related note the Ontario Women's
Directorate announced the investment of $1.3 million in a
consortuim of 24 women's organizations to help vulnerable
women learn about thier rights under ontario family law.

3) Violence against women: Who's problem is in anyway?
(youth summits)
After a careful examination of the school year our dates
and locations have been set. The first of our two days
will be Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007 and the second Tuesday,
February 19th, 2008. The students who attend on day one,
will be asked back for follow up on day two. Draft
workshop agenda is the next stage while we drill down the
details of the two days.

4) Youth Web page
This will flow from the summits.

Cyber Safety Patrol Project
The purpose of this project is to keep our youth safe while
surfing the net.

1) Include internet luring & predators as part of the
revised Sexual Assault Protocol
Research will begin shortly on this side of things.

2) Cyber Safety Patrol Contest & Media Campaign
It is so exciting to see what is happening around this
project! I had the pleasure of meeting with the 5 youth
and the three mentors who form this working group. We
clarified the intention of the project and helped to
prioritize how the work would proceed. The committee
invited Tom Reil of Brockville Police to speak to them
about CyberSafety. They learned alot from the
presentation.

The Committee met again to begin designing the contest.
They are inviting David Eaton, Youth Representative for the
Upper Canada District School Board. Intention is to inform
him of the project so that he might bring it forward to the
Board for support.

3) Cyber Safety Training
Work on this will start in mid-October.

Network of Support Project (L & G VCARS)
Objective: To lessen the impact of crime and trauma
through support services to victims.

1) Identify Funding Providers
Letters have gone out to all Churches in Leeds & Grenville.
We are asking if they might be willing to be on our
resource list of potential funding sources. When we
encounter a victim in need, we would approach a specific
church or churches for support.

Funding for our first VQRP application was approved!

2) Identify Service Providers
We have identified and contacted local area counselors who
are willing to work with the VQRP funding.
Sonya has identified one company able to do scene clean ups
who will also work with the VQRP funding. She continues to
search for more.

3) Identify Community Services
Did you know that the Assault Response & Care Centre offers
services to men and boys who have been assaulted. A great
resource for the community.

Also the Salvation Army in Kemptville has a variety of
great services including...Food Bank, Thrift Store,
Christmas Hampers Program, Summer Camp for kids aged 7 -
12, Pastoral Care, Income Tax Preparation to those earning
less than $25,000 per year, Volunteer Programs including
placements for CSO Volunteers, and the Friday Friendship
Lunch. Often we are a place to turn when people don't know
where else to go for help so we actually provide a very
broad range of services that do not fit into a program as
such. Call them at Tel (613) 258-3583.
